Seeking the Lord, our God

1 Peter 2:9-10 “But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR  God's  OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD; you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY.”
As God’s people, we have been given the great privilege and honor to represent Him to the world.  God has chosen and called us from utter darkness and has brought us into His marvelous light.  We have become His people and have been shown mercy!  Receiving mercy means that some great need of ours was met by another, a need which we couldn’t meet on our own. In this context, it refers to the guilt of our sin. Let that sink in for a minute…  We were guilty before God and He sent His son to take the punishment in our place, and then adopted us into His family!  So, of course we will live with Him as our God, living our His ways before others, and tell of the great deeds He has done in our lives!
